Since education is on the
Concurrent List of the Indian Constitution, the states play a very important role in
Education. Teaching, examination and administration is left to the state governments who,
invariably, appoint a competent authority in their respective state to admit
students to medical, dental, management, pharmacy, computer application and engineering
courses.
Some state governments assign
their technical education and medical education directorates to conduct
admission tests
while some constitute a special body to admit students.

The Higher Education set-up in the West is quite different from the one found in our country. Unlike India the
academic calendar in all the western countries are well defined and the admissions and
examinations are held on the scheduled dates, entertaining no diversion whatsoever. So
those aspiring to go abroad after passing out their 10+2 or graduate exam must be in touch
with the universities abroad a year before they propose to move out.
First of all decide on the country, the university and the course you wish to study. This
is because the systems in different countries have different requirements. For example, if
you are planning to go to the US, then you have to appear for the
Scholastic Aptitude Test
(SAT), a three-hour exam. Whereas, if you want to try a course in Australia, you will be
required to do a one-year preparatory course.
If you wish to visit the United States then
www.usjournal.com will
certainly come in handy.
